A Naming Day is a modern alternative to a church service for a baptism or christening. It is usually non-religious, but can have some religious content; this is completely up to the family. A Naming Ceremony would normally take place in a park, or at the family home, followed by a celebration party and cake! The Naming will quite often coincide with the baby’s first birthday, but can be done at any time, and even for more than one child (additional fees may apply). The baby or child would normally have Godparents or Mentors honouring them during the ceremony, just as in a baptism. This is not essential, but would usually be a couple who are related to the child, or close friends of the parents. They do not need to be a married couple, and can even be more than 2 people. Again, this is personal choice. There are some lovely rituals which can be done during the ceremony, for example:
$150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date within 14 days. Balance of payment is due 30 days prior to the naming day. Interval payments are welcomed. Any props required for the ceremony are at the expense of the family. A Naming Day fee is $450, which includes:
Additional certificates for grandparents or extra children are $12 each, however there are no extra fees to include other children in the ceremony.
